Happy October! This is my favourite time of the year. I’ve just uploaded Episode 3 of my series of live readings on YouTube in the Stories from Dead Scribes playlist. It’s a reading of the Howard Phillips Lovecraft tale “The Outsider”. As a horror writer myself, H.P. Lovecraft has been one of my biggest influences. His Cthulhu Mythos has left its mark on a plethora of horror and sci-fi authors as well as filmmakers. “The Outsider” is a non-mythos tale, meaning it doesn’t fit in the continuity of the Cthulhu Mythos and its cosmic horror. Its style resembles more Edgar Allan Poe than what’s usually associated with Lovecraftian horror. Written in 1921, it was first published in Weird Tales magazine in April 1926. The 1995 film Castle Freak from director Stuart Gordon was loosely based on this story. Please bookmark the Stories from Dead Scribes playlist and subscribe to my channel to be notified whenever I post new readings. Until next time, enjoy!
